Big Sky

2023

A great lesson on being stuck.

I learned Bulb mode was a thing by accident on the north coast of Iceland trying to capture seeing an Aurora Borealis for the first time. My fingers were freezing and It was pitch black out. The wind was so strong the door hinge almost snapped. But I figured it out. I was hooked.

I've gotten to see some big skies. I've stood in places that remind me how small I am.There's a grace that comes from a reminder of a larger insignificance. That grace can lead to a daring generosity. These photos are the most flashy part of me. Down on the earth, sometimes with soaked boots in january cold or a shoulder scraped protecting my camera rocks covered in slick moss. Fingers froze, stuck in a surprise snow storm.

"Look. Look. Look how small we can be. Come Play."
